The Automation Revelation (21:39 minutes)
UK managed service provider InTechnology says it's reaped tremendous
benefits from an automated lifecycle approach. "When you've got like 80
percent of all incidents raised automatically, it takes a massive burden
off the 24/7 teams and the customer support guys, who are not spending
the majority of their time creating incidents but actually working to
resolve them," said InTechnology's Ed Jackson.

Today's Story Highlights
Sued and Screwed: Where Do AT&T and T-Mobile Go From Here?
The U.S. Department of Justice dealt a surprising blow to the proposed
$39 billion merger between wireless providers AT&T and T-Mobile
Wednesday when it filed a lawsuit to block AT&T from acquiring the
smaller company, claiming the deal would violate antitrust regulations.
The proposed merger, announced five months ago, would combine the
nation's second and fourth largest wireless providers.

Will Apple Still Be Apple Without Steve Jobs?
We knew this day was coming. Now that Steve Jobs is leaving, Apple will
change. Apple has stood out during the last decade or more as an
incredible growth engine for customers, investors, workers and partners.
However, it wasn't just Apple. If Apple is the steak, then Steve Jobs is
the sizzle. How important is the sizzle? Will Apple still be Apple?

A Dreamforce Diary
One of the announcements Marc Benioff made in his Day 1 keynote here at
Dreamforce was Database.com. The news is that Salesforce is now enabling
its customers to store their data on their own hardware inside their
data centers. There is a need -- or at least a demand -- for this
capability, as many large enterprises and government institutions do not
wish to send their data outside of their own four walls.

What Murdoch Can Teach Us About Corporate Governance
At this point, most of us are quite aware of the problems that Rupert
Murdoch is having in Great Britain. There has been a seismic shift in
the power that Murdoch has over politics and law enforcement in England.
Up until a few short months ago, most people in power there were afraid
to openly criticize Murdoch for fear of retribution in the press.

Dreamforce '11: Head in the Clouds, Feet on the Ground
Salesforce.com kicked off its 9th Dreamforce conference with a slew of
new features, services and products, as well as an offering that
represents a surprising shift for the cloud-evangelizing company: the
ability to store data on premises for security-conscious companies.
