In a prosecution for numerous offenses relating to the defendant's involvement in a fraudulent high-yield investment program, before which the district court had granted a government application to suspend the statute of limitations pursuant to 18 USC section 3292 while the government sought the assistance of the Hungarian government in recovering records relating to transfers of the scheme’s proceeds into Hungarian bank accounts, the district court's denial of a motion to dismiss the indictment on statute of limitations grounds is affirmed, where: 1) the evidence was sufficient to support the district court’s order; 2) section 3292 does not require that the foreign evidence sought be necessary for an indictment, nor that it be obtainable only through an official request to a foreign government; and 3) district courts may rely on ex parte proceedings when deciding to issue section 3292 orders. In a class action asserting Sherman Act claims, brought against a charge card issuer whose card acceptance agreement purported to preclude a merchant from bringing a class action lawsuit, the district court's grant of the defendant's motion to compel arbitration and dismissal of the case is reversed, where the cost of plaintiffs' individually arbitrating their dispute with the defendant would be prohibitive, effectively depriving them of the statutory protections of the antitrust laws, and thus the class action waiver in the arbitration provision was unenforceable. Vince Cable, Business Secretary, during his visit to the flagship research facility in East Belfast - the Northern Ireland Advanced Composites Centre (NIACE).

NIACE has received £2.7m in funding from BIS. It will bring together leading academics and companies to develop new technologies for the design and manufacture of high-quality composite products.

Mr Cable also visited Andor Technology, aircraft manufacturer Bombardier and shipbuilder Harland and Wolff.

Ahead of the visit he said:

"Some people say the UK doesn't make anything any more. Yet the companies I'm visiting in Belfast show this couldn't be further from the truth. We are one of the world's biggest manufacturers and a leading exporter of technology intensive products and services.

"The opening of NIACE is welcome as it demonstrates our ideas and innovations are being turned into new products and jobs.

"This centre will work with universities and businesses based in Northern Ireland and across the UK, to develop and commercialise new technologies."

Thailand Banjir, Laba Western Digital Turun

Meski banjir yang melanda Thailand tahun lalu sempat mengganggu penjualan hard disk, tapi Western Digital (WD) mengaku mengalami perkembangan signifikan dalam mengembalikan kapasitas produksi setelah kejadian banjir di Thailand.

WD menyatakan bahwa produksi HDD terus meningkat di Thailand, dan pihak WD telah memulai kembali produksi slider yang telah dihentikan sejak 10 Oktober. WD sekarang percaya bahwa kapasitas produksi akan kembali ke masa sebelum banjir pada kuartal yang berakhir pada September 2012.

Sepanjang kuartal fiskal kedua yang berakhir 30 Desember 2011, WD melaporkan pendapatannya sebesar US$ 2 miliar. Pengiriman hard-drive tercatat sebanyak 28.5 juta unit, dengan laba bersih sebesar US$145 juta, atau US$ 0,61 per lembar saham.

"Kami telah membuat kemajuan besar dalam pemulihan kemampuan produksi WD akibat kejadian banjir bersejarah di Thailand. Ini tercermin dalam hasil keuangan kuartal kedua kami dan kembali pulihnya operasional kami di sana," kata John Coyne, President and Chief Executive Officer, Kamis, 26 Januari 2012, dalam keterangan tertulisnya. Ia melanjutkan, di luar biaya dan pengeluaran yang berhubungan dengan Banjir Thailand dan rencana akuisisi Hitachi global Storage Techonologies (HGST), laba bersih non-GAAP WD tercatat sebesar US$358 juta atau US$1,51 per lembar saham.

Sepanjang kuartal ini, perusahaan mengeluarkan biaya dan pengeluaran sebesar US$199 juta yang terkait dengan banjir dan pengeluaran sebesar US$14 juta yang terkait dengan rencana akuisisi HGST.

Sebagai perbandingan, pada kuartal yang sama tahun lalu, WD mengumumkan pendapatan sebesar US$2,5 miliar, laba bersih sebesar US$225 juta, atau US$0,96 per lembar saham, dan pengiriman 52,2 juta unit hard drive.

WD menghasilkan US$378 juta dalam bentuk tunai dari operasional selama kuartal Desember, sehingga total uang tunai dan setara uang tunai yang dimiliki menjadi sebesar US$3,9 miliar.

"Meskipun banyak pekerjaan yang masih harus dilakukan selama beberapa kuartal ke depan, kemajuan sejauh ini sudah jauh melebihi harapan kami. Ini merupakan hasil dari tindakan efektif bagi para karyawan, kontraktor dan badan-badan pemerintahan Thailand, upaya para mitra pemasok dan dukungan para pelanggan kami," jelasnya.

WD berencana untuk menyelesaikan akuisisi HGST sesuai jadwal mendekati Maret 2012. WD terus berupaya untuk mendapatkan persetujuan atas transaksi ini dari badan-badan pemerintahan yang belum memberikan persetujuan. (eh)

Misteri Kafan Kristus Terjawab. Setelah sekian lama menjadi perdebatan, para ahli seni di Italia mengklaim Kain Kafan dari Turin (Shroud of Turin) adalah palsu. Kain kafan tersebut dibuat oleh seniman Giotto, kain kafan yang memiliki panjang 14 Feet ini sempat menjadi perdebatan karena diklaim sebagai kain penguburan Kristus, di sana tercetak gambar samar-samar seorang pria dan tampaknya diwarnai oleh lumuran darah.

Namun dalam sebuah tes karbon yang pernah dilakukan, kain kafan turin ini diproduksi antara tahun 1260 dan 1390. Seorang pakar kesenian Italia Luciano Buso menyatakan bahwa bahwa kain asli sebenarnya telah rusak dan kemudian seniman Giotto diminta untuk membuat salinan.

Setelah berbulan-bulan pemeriksaan dilakukan dengan teliti terhadap foto-foto Kain Kafan, Buso sempat kesulitan karena peninggalan tersebut selalu terkunci dan tidak tersedia dan bisa mudah untuk dilihat kecuali pada acara-acara khusus.

"Aku telah memeriksa foto yang sangat jelas tentang Kain Kafan dan melihat sejumlah kemunculan nomor 15, di wajah, tangan, dan dalam satu kasus bahkan terlihat berbentuk seperti salib panjang," ujarnya.

Buso yang tinggal di Treviso, Italia utara menjelaskan misteri yang tersembunyi dalam kain itu, ternyata diciptakan oleh seniman Giotto dengan tanda nomor 15 dan juga tahun pembuatan 1315, dan kain tersebut merupakan salinan dari kain asli yang telah rusak dan kemudian hilang selama berabad-abad.

"Dia tidak berusaha apa-apa, yang jelas dari kenyataan bahwa dia menandatanganinya dengan inisial Giotto yaitu '15′, untuk mengotentikasi sebagai karya sendiri dari 1315. Kain ini bukan palsu tetapi ia diminta untuk membuat salinan yang asli," ujarnya seperti dikutip dari dailymail .

Buso juga menegaskan bahwa 700 tahun yang lalu Giotto diperintahkan untuk menyalin kain kafan, dan ini adalah praktik umum bagi sebagian seniman untuk memasukkan tanggal ke dalam karya mereka, sehingga dapat menjamin keaslian mereka dan itu hanya diketahui oleh segelintir orang dan juga untuk menghindari pemalsuan.

"Kain yang asli mungkin rusak, dan Gereja meminta salah satu seniman terbesar pada saat itu, Giotto, untuk membuat salinan dan kemudian kain yang asli hilang. Apa yang kita miliki sekarang adalah salah satu salinannya," tegasnya

Klaim Buso ini merupakan bagian dari sebuah buku baru yang telah ia tulis, dan akan diterbitkan bertepatan dengan penelitian karbon terhadap kain turin yang pernah dilakukan tahun 1980 dan penelitian ini dihentikan oleh pihak Gereja.

"Untuk alasan yang jelas, itu tidak dipublikasikan secara luas bahwa itu adalah salinan kain tersebut dan kalau diperjelas pasti akan memiliki dampak bagi Gereja. Dan saya mengerti telah mengabaikan teori saya, tapi saya yakin bahwa saya benar," tukasnya.

Giotto merupakan seniman yang paling terkenal pada waktu itu dan karya terkenal lainny adalah dekorasi Kapel Scrovegni di Padua, dalam lukisan dinding yang menggambarkan kehidupan Perawan Maria dan Kristus.

Penyanyi asal Filipina itu dideportasi ke negara asalnya karena menyalahi aturan izin tinggal di Indonesia dan dikenakan pasal 122 junto pasal 75 UU Keimigrasian mengenai penyalahgunaan izin tinggal dan orang asing yang tidak menaati peraturan yang berlaku. Dia masuk ke dalam daftar penangkalan dimana dirinya dilarang mengunjungi Indonesia selama 6 bulan ke depan.

"Christian masuk dalam daftar penangkalan dimana sesuai peraturan UU No. 6 tahun 2011, orang yang masuk daftar penangkalan dilarang kembali ke negara di mana ia dilakukan penangkalan selama 6 bulan ke depan dan dapat di perpanjang 6 bulan dan seterusnya," ucap humas Ditjen Imigrasi, Maryoto saat dihubungi okezone, Sabtu (28/1/2012).

Dengan begitu, Christian dipastikan tidak dapat tampil di Indonesia selama 6 bulan kedepan. Namun dirinya dapat kembali setelah menjalani masa larangan tersebut asalkan pihak sponsor yang mengontraknya dapat menjamin ia tidak melakukan pelanggaran tersebut.

"Setelah 6 bulan, dapat diizinkan kembali apabila dari pihak sponsor yang mengontraknya mau melakukan perjanjian dengan pihak imigrasi agar ia tidak melakukan pelanggaran selama di Indonesia," jelasnya.(rik)

Cerita Mengejutkan di Balik Produksi Apple China

Di balik popularitas Apple sebagai produsen gadget yang paling banyak diincar, rupanya tersimpan cerita yang bisa membuat orang terbelalak.

Konon, ratusan ribu pekerja yang merakit produk Apple di pabriknya di Chengdu, China, justru diperlakukan dengan kurang manusiawi oleh para pemasok dan hidup mereka kerap terancam bahaya.

Bagaimana tidak, mereka harus bekerja selama sepekan penuh tanpa mendapat libur walaupun hanya sehari. Mereka juga harus berdesakan di asrama dan diharuskan berdiri sepanjang hari sampai kaki mereka membengkak. Bahkan, mereka kerap mengalami kesulitan berjalan setelah bekerja dalam shift 24 jam.

Daily Mail Jumat 27 Januari 2012 memberitakan, di depan pintu masuk pabrik Apple bahkan terpampang spanduk bertuliskan 'Bekerja keras lah di pekerjaan Anda hari ini atau bekerja keras lah mencari pekerjaan besok'. Pekerja yang datang terlambat sering disuruh menulis surat pengakuan.

Tak hanya itu. Pernah ada kasus ledakan bahan kimia berbahaya yang biasa digunakan membersihkan layar iPhone yang melukai 140 orang. Sempat pula ada dua ledakan yang melukai lebih dari 75 orang dan menewaskan empat orang.

"Kalau Apple sudah diperingatkan tentang ini, namun tidak mengambil tindakan, itu berbahaya. Namun, yang paling menjijikkan adalah menyetujui adanya praktik kerja semacam ini dan mengambil keuntungan darinya," kata pakar keselamatan kerja Nicholas Asford.

Apple diduga sudah mengetahui masalah lingkungan kerja yang buruk itu sebelum terjadi ledakan. Hal ini diperkuat klaim seorang mantan eksekutif Apple. "Kami sudah mengetahui kondisi para pekerja di beberapa pabrik selama empat tahun, dan hal itu masih terus berlangsung karena sistem itulah yang paling cocok untuk kami," klaimnya.

Sementara itu, eksekutif Apple lainnya mengklaim telah berusaha meningkatkan kinerja dengan menerbitkan acuan tentang keselamatan dan pekerja bagi para pemasok. Namun, masalah masih tetap saja bermunculan.

Berita tentang kenyataan para pekerja yang mencengangkan ini muncul setelah Apple mengumumkan peningkatan keuntungannya sebesar US$13 miliar dari penjualan US$46 miliar di kuartal terakhir.

Sejak 2007, lebih dari separuh pemasok yang diaudit Apple diketahui sudah melanggar setidaknya satu poin dalam acuan. Dalam beberapa kasus, mereka bahkan sudah dinyatakan melanggar hukum.

Di salah satu pabrik Foxconn yang merupakan mitra manufaktur Apple, seorang karyawan pernah menjatuhkan diri dari ketinggian saat kehilangan sebuah prototipe Apple pada 2009, dan 18 orang lain mencoba melakukan hal yang sama. Sejak saat itu, kantor menyediakan jasa perawatan mental, dan dipasang jaring untuk mencegah hal yang sama terulang.

Sebenarnya tidak semua fasilitas Apple seburuk yang ditemui di Chengdu. Faktanya, banyak dilengkapi fasilitas seperti bioskop, rumah sakit, bahkan kolam renang. Namun, fasilitas ini rupanya berbanding terbalik dengan semangat para pekerjanya.

Pihak Apple yang sempat mengunjungi salah satu pabrik mereka di Shenzhen, China, pada 2006, mengaku terkejut dengan kenyataan yang ada. "Kami sudah berusaha sangat keras untuk membuat segalanya lebih baik. Namun, orang-orang pasti akan sangat terganggu saat mengetahui darimana iPhone mereka berasal," kata salah satu petinggi. (art)

Maka, dengan adanya percampuran dua bahan tersebut, reaksi kimia yang dihasilkan akan berupa gas hidrogen yang berfungsi untuk mengisi ulang daya baterai handphone Anda.

Alat yang dikembangkan oleh perusahaan myFC asal Swedia ini merupakan charger handphone pertama yang menggunakan air dan zat Sodium Silicide. Anda dapat menggunakan air apa saja untuk digunakan. Asalkan air tersebut belum tercampur dengan zat kimia lainnya. Selain dapat mengisi persediaan baterai handphone, PowerTrakk pun dapat digunakan oleh perangkat mobile lainnya, seperti GPS, kamera dan sebagainya.

SBA participated in BankWorld on January 13, 2012. BankWorld and the New England Mortgage Expo joined forces this year to create this opportunity for the region's bankers to learn about emerging opportunities and innovative solutions in the banking industry. Bankers attended educational sessions, interactive panels and had the opportunity to network and mingle with 100+ leading edge exhibitors. This high profile event was made possible by partners like SBA, the Connecticut Bankers Association, The Warren Group, the Center for Financial Training, and the New England Financial Marketing Association.

SBA led one of the educational sessions on SOP changes and 504 refinancing for more than 150 Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island lenders. Bagi yang siklus haidnya tidak teratur maka yang harus dilakukan pertama kali adalah membuat catatan siklus haid sekurang kurangnya selama 6 siklus. Dari jumlah hari pada siklus terpanjang, dikurangi dengan 11 akan diperoleh hari subur terakhir dalam siklus haid tersebut. Sedangkan dari jumlah hari pada siklus terpendek dikurangi 18, diperoleh hari subur pertama dalam siklus haid tersebut. Misal : siklus terpanjang = 31, sedangkan siklus terpendek = 26, maka masa subur dapat dihitung, 31 - 11 = 20, dan 26 -18 = 8, jadi masa subur berlangsung pada hari ke 8 sampai hari ke 20.

Buang Sampah Pada Tempatnya Mendapatkan Hadiah Dicium Wanita Cantik

Saking peduli terhadap lingkungan seorang gadis remaja yang cantik rela melakukan kampanye sadar lingkungan, agar orang-orang mmiliki kepedulian terhadap lingkungan hidup terutama menjaga kebersihan dan kelestarian lingkungan.Yang unik adalah bentuk kampanye sang gadis ayu ini. Dia memberikan ciuman pada siapa saja yang saat itu lewat didekatnya dan terlihat peduli dengan lingkungan misalnya membuang sampah ke bak sampah, atau memungut sampah yang tercecer dan mengambilnya untuk dibuang ke bak sampah.

Inilah yang dilakukan Li Xiaohe nama gadis manis ini yang masih kuliah di sebuah Universitas di Chengdu Cina. Menurut Harian Rakyat Cina yang menceritakan Li melakukan kampanye ini bertepatan dengan hari lingkungan hidup 8 Juni lalu. Li hanya ingin dirinya memberikan sumbangsih pada penyadaran kepedualian masyarakat pada lingkungan hidup. Menurut Li hal yang dilakukannya akan lebih berarti dari pada sangsi yang diberlakukan atas pelanggar aturan tentang lingkungan hidup.

Masih menurut Li pada media setempat, sangsi atau hukuman atas pelanggaran atuaran membuat orang melakukan sesuatu karena terpaksa bukan karena motivasi dari dalam dirinya sendiri. Ia berharap masyarakat bisa sadar dan peduli. Adapun latar belakang Li Xiaohe sendiri melakukan hal ini karena sempat melihat banyak orang yang membuang sampah sembarangan seperti puntung rokok dan lainnya tidak pada tempatnya, akhirnya dia terpikir untuk bisa menyadarkan mereka.

Akhir-akhir ini ada berita besar tentang Sopa, PIPA, dan ACTA adalah bertentangan dengan semangat dari internet. Pertanyaannya adalah "Apakah semangat dari internet?". Untuk mendapatkan pegangan di atasnya, mungkin kita harus tahu tentang pendiri www yang biasa kita hampir sepanjang waktu di internet sekarang.

Namanya adalah Tim Berners-Lee. Berners Lee adalah seorang ilmuwan komputer Inggris yang menemukan World Wide Web.

Timotius John Berners Lee lahir pada tanggal 8 Juni 1955 dan dibesarkan di London. Ia belajar fisika di Universitas Oxford dan menjadi seorang insinyur perangkat lunak.

Pada tahun 1980, saat bekerja di CERN, Laboratorium Partikel Fisika Eropa di Jenewa, ia pertama kali menggambarkan konsep sistem global, berdasarkan pada konsep 'hypertext', yang akan memungkinkan para peneliti di mana saja untuk berbagi informasi. Ia juga membangun sebuah prototipe disebut 'Enquire'.

Pada tahun 1984, Berners Lee kembali ke CERN, yang juga rumah bagi sebuah node Internet utama Eropa. Pada tahun 1989, Berners Lee menerbitkan sebuah makalah yang disebut 'Manajemen Informasi: Sebuah Proposal' di mana ia menikah sampai hypertext dengan Internet, untuk menciptakan sebuah sistem untuk berbagi dan mendistribusikan informasi tidak hanya dalam perusahaan, tetapi global. Dia menamakannya World Wide Web.

Pada tahun 1994, Berners-Lee mendirikan W3C di MIT. Ini terdiri berbagai perusahaan yang bersedia untuk membuat standar dan rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan kualitas Web. Berners-Lee membuat idenya tersedia secara bebas, tanpa ada paten dan royalti. Konsorsium World Wide Web memutuskan bahwa standar yang harus didasarkan pada teknologi bebas royalti, sehingga mereka dengan mudah dapat diadopsi oleh siapa pun.

Berners-Lee dan Profesor Nigel Shadbolt adalah dua tokoh kunci di balik data.gov.uk, Pemerintah Inggris membuka proyek untuk hampir semua data yang diperoleh untuk tujuan resmi gratis digunakan kembali. Mengomentari pembukaan data Ordnance Survey pada bulan April 2010 Berners-Lee mengatakan bahwa: "Perubahan sinyal perubahan budaya yang lebih luas dalam Pemerintah berdasarkan pada asumsi bahwa informasi harus dalam domain publik kecuali ada alasan untuk tidak-tidak sebaliknya. Berners-Lee adalah salah satu suara pelopor dalam mendukung Netralitas Bersih, dan telah menyatakan pandangan bahwa ISP harus menyediakan "konektivitas dengan tanpa pamrih," dan tidak harus mengontrol atau memonitor aktivitas pelanggan 'browsing tanpa persetujuan mereka diungkapkan. Dia pendukung gagasan bahwa netralitas bersih adalah semacam hak jaringan manusia: "Ancaman ke Internet, seperti perusahaan atau pemerintah yang mencampuri atau mengintip pada lalu lintas Internet, kompromi hak-hak dasar jaringan manusia."

Dalam sebuah artikel Times, pada Oktober 2009, Berners-Lee mengakui bahwa garis miring ke depan ("//") dalam alamat web sebenarnya "tidak perlu". Dia mengatakan kepada surat kabar bahwa ia bisa dengan mudah dirancang URL tidak memiliki garis miring ke depan. "Ada kau pergi, tampaknya seperti ide yang baik pada waktu itu," katanya dalam permintaan maaf ringan nya.

Misi gan nubie mau belajar bikin thread :Yb

Kemaren hari minggu tanggal 29 Januari 2012 sekitar jam 2an ane berangkat dari rumah ane untuk sempetin waktu gan mampir ke barcode kemang. situasi dan kondisi di sekitar lagi ujan tapi mau pegimana lagi demi ketemu Elly Tran idola ane ya uda ujan badai juga ane sikat :ngakaks.

di tkp ane terjebak diantara gamer karena mank kebetulan tu acara untuk grand launching game online. pas didepan registrasi ane sedikit shock karena yang ane liat bukannya elly tran malahan cosplay sailormoon (ape ane salah tempat yeee :ngakaks) tapi pas ane tanya beneran elly trannya ada di dalem.

sampe di dalem ane akhirnya lihat dengan mata kepala ane sendiri sosok "itu"

Dan akhirnya setelah selesai acara ngobrol santai dengan staff VTC dan Dwi Andika, Elly pun bertolak ke hotel tempat ia menginap untuk beristirahat.
